I believe this is a Golden Eagle and I have no idea why he is on the lake shore instead of in the mountains. I have seen Bald Eagles at the lake but this was the first and last time I saw the Golden Eagle. The two birds are not closely related. They share the eagle name because of their huge size.

  1. We have a Golden Eagle that nests in a marsh just north of Edmonton, near a very small town called Opal. I believe he has been tagged, as he/she has a yellow tag under one wing. Absolutely beautiful creature!
