We were at the cabin at Sturgeon Lake yesterday and there was a lone Trumpeter Swan. It made us wonder where the mate was as you don’t often see them alone at this time of year. The swan swam and feed within sight all afternoon. Occasionally when we heard the swan’s honk we felt like we were in the middle of a traffic jam. No wonder it is called the Trumpeter Swan!

  1. That’s a young swan from last year’s brood. He/she probably hasn’t met its soul mate yet, so is still on its own. Would be interesting to keep an eye on it and watch for courting behaviour if it stays around.
